Working with Addictions

In this four-hour workshop, Shaura Hall will present a brief lecture on the neurobiology of addiction; the function of human desire and how maladaptation leads to non-normative desire responses that lead to an ambivalent cycle, eroding the sense of self and trapping the person inside their mind and body programming.

She explores how working with yogic inspired methodologies and creative processes can forge a relationship between the conscious and subconscious minds, leading to a return to wholeness and greater quality of life.
Description

The benefits of using Yogically inspired therapeutic and creative techniques for people in recovery can be immense. The practices that have travelled from India over the millennium contain timeless wisdom; this sacred knowledge has been protected and shared by those who wish humanity to be free from suffering.

A short plenary discussion will follow the lecture. Practicum includes breath practice, Yoga Nidra, embodied movement and a creative process to build a vision for recovery.
